Terms of Service

Charlie is an information and analysis tool for retail investors. The service surfaces market news, generates editorial summaries through a language model, and offers a chat assistant trained to discuss markets and portfolios.

Charlie is not a broker, not a regulated investment advisor, and does not execute trades. The service is informational. Any decision you make is your sole responsibility.

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract under the laws of your country. You agree to provide accurate information when registering and to keep your credentials confidential.

You are responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time from the profile screen. Account deletion is final and removes your personal data, subject to the retention rules described in our Privacy Policy.

Charlie offers a free tier and a paid Pro tier. Pricing is displayed in the application before purchase. Subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe.

A seven-day free trial is offered to new Pro subscribers. The trial is not renewable. You can cancel at any time before the end of the trial without being charged.

You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Stripe Customer Portal accessible from the profile screen. The cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial periods.

Applicable taxes (VAT) are included in the displayed price. You will receive an invoice through Stripe after each payment.

If you use Charlie on iOS, the Apple Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) applies in addition to these Terms. In case of conflict on the points expressly addressed by the Apple EULA, the Apple EULA prevails.

Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms with respect to the iOS app and is entitled to enforce them against you, but Apple is not a party to the contract and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. You agree that Charlie, not Apple, is responsible for any claim relating to the iOS app or its content.

Subscriptions are sold through Stripe on the web and are managed via the Stripe Customer Portal. Charlie does not use Apple In-App Purchase for digital subscriptions.

You must comply with the Apple Media Services Terms and any applicable third-party agreements when using Charlie on iOS.

Charlie, including the brand, logos, code, design, and editorial content (such as Charlie's takes and analyses), is owned by us or our licensors. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the service for personal use during the term of your account.

News articles surfaced through Charlie remain the property of the original publishers. We display them under fair-use or licensing arrangements with the data providers.

You retain ownership of the messages and inputs you submit through the chat assistant or through profile fields ("User Content"). You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to process User Content for the sole purpose of providing the service and improving security, abuse prevention, and reliability.

We do not use your User Content to train language models. Conversations sent to our language-model provider are processed transiently and discarded after the response is delivered.

You agree not to: (a) use Charlie for unlawful purposes, (b) attempt to access another user's account or data, (c) reverse engineer, decompile, or scrape the service, (d) overload the service with automated requests beyond reasonable use, (e) submit content that is harassing, defamatory, infringes third-party rights, or violates applicable law.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, and report illegal activity to the competent authorities.

Charlie does not provide investment advice. The information, analyses, summaries, and assistant responses are for informational purposes only. Past performance is not a guide to future performance. You should consult a licensed professional before making any investment decision.

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the data displayed is complete or accurate. News content is sourced from third parties and may contain inaccuracies.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid to Charlie during the twelve months preceding the claim.

We are not liable for indirect, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or trading losses, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, if a security or legal issue requires it, or if we discontinue the service. We will give reasonable notice when possible.

Upon termination, the provisions that by their nature should survive (intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, governing law) remain in force.

These Terms are governed by French law. Any dispute will be submitted to the competent courts of Paris, France, except where consumer protection rules grant you the right to bring proceedings before the courts of your place of residence.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
